3 Breast Implant Terms & What They Mean for You
Breast augmentation is so popular that most people are familiar with the more common breast implant terms like “silicone” and “saline.”These are important things to know about, but there are some lesser-known breast implant terms that should brush up on in order to end up with your best possible results from breast augmentation.
1. Volume
Replace “size” with “volume”on your list of breast implant terms. Breast implant volume is measured in CCs (cubic centimeters), not in cup sizes like bras and bikinis. Cup size measurements vary significantly across brands and not an accurate way to measure breast size. Volume – or how much area the breast implant occupies – plays a much bigger role in how your breasts will look after augmentation.
2. Proportion

Proportion is one of the most important breast implant terms because it’s a key factor in getting great-looking results. Just because you heard that your beauty idol has 400 CC implants doesn’t mean those same 400 CC implants would look so fabulous on you. So many variables play a role in how implants will look on each person’s unique body. The width of your chest and shoulders, how much breast tissue you start out with and a whole host of other factors help to determine what breast implant size will look best for your figure.
3. Profile
When you’re talking about breast augmentation, “profile” refers to how much projection you’ll get from an implant. Projection is basically how far out your breasts will protrude from your chest. Together with your plastic surgeon, you can select the breast implant profile that fits you best. Higher profile implants offer the most projection, while moderate profile implants are more subtle.
